Welcome! We were thrilled with the turnout at our first South African event and I-NAFE launch. Here are just a few of the thoughts the attendees shared with us...
“I enjoyed meeting with women from all walks of life and realizing that… we face similar challenges irrespective our geographic locations. … I liked the fact that most of the speakers spoke from the heart and shared real life experiences as opposed to focusing on models and theories that are usually not applicable across the board.” Thembi Khoza
“The selection of the speakers was good with an interest in the real corporate environment.” Lindiwe Mkhize
“Firstly I would like to thank NAFE for putting together such a powerful event for us. What I liked bestwas the people… .” Florah Seleme
“I have grown such a lot in confidence and knowledge just listening to most of the speakers, that I am now giving inspirational/motivational speeches at Co-ops and outreach programmes.” Gadija Kasu
“I found it a very fabulous experience, and would to attend more of them.” Sandra Arendsen
“A great initiative aimed at liberating women’s potential.” Nyamane Dudu
“What I liked best: The sharing of experiences, the opportunity to network and ask questions.” Thandeka Tyatyantsi
“It was an amazing opportunity for me to meet and socialize with other people in business.” Mandisa Masitwe
WELCOME TO I•NAFE
Welcome to the first issue of the I•NAFE Newsletter!
With the formal launch of I•NAFE on August 7th in Johannesburg, South Africa, the National Association for Female Executives extended its sphere of influence to the international arena.
For many years the largest U.S. organization of business women, NAFE now aims to be the largest membership group for female executives and female entrepreneurs around the globe.
We tested the international waters in 2006 and 2007 with NAFE Breakfast Clubs in Toronto, Canada and in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Women in those two venues were passionate about their business lives and their personal lives. During the Q&A sessions after the keynote speakers, everyone wanted to share their experiences, their hopes, their problems—so much so that it was sometimes difficult getting the microphone back!
Of course we loved that high level of participation. And we discovered that professional women everywhere share the same concerns. Equal treatment for their gender is a major issue. So is worklife balance. It may be the 21st century, but women still bear most of the responsibility for childcare and home management.
WE'LL STAY IN TOUCH
Internet technology now makes it possible for us to communicate regardless of location or distance. And the new I•NAFE website will give international members a forum to ask questions and share ideas with fellow NAFE members. Offering blogs, message boards and event wrap-ups now – and soon, an international marketplace where members can list their goods and services – we invite you to view and use the new website.
I•NAFE members can also take advantage of material on the original NAFE website (www.nafe.com), including articles from NAFE Magazine and an archive of back issues of NAFE E-Newsletter. That newsletter contains our famous "5 Tips" articles which provide inspiration and advice on many helpful business topics. The articles are all written by NAFE members.
